Today was a pretty great day. Started out strange, with a dream that made my eyes foggy and put a crooked, confused smile on my face. Never had that one before. I went to the kitchen, fixed myself a bowl of Carmen's bean soup and got a piece of cornbread, and joined her at the table. This woman knows me so well now. It's hard to imagine it any other way.
We went to the SNIPSA adoption event and, despite the stifling and unwavering heat, had a good time! There was live music, friendly people, and playful pets. Carmen and I are the only ones who brought kittens. The show of adorable puppies put the large crate of boring kittens in the shady corner, alone and unbothered until Carmen and I forced them to let us hold 'em. We ate delicious onion rings and I sipped a frozen margarita, which I will always consider a delicacy in hot states like Texas. With the setting sun warming that patio, in the company of interesting people, I couldn't stop smiling.
I wanted to take all those puppies home...but Mom said no. She even headed me off when she found out where I was. She sent me a text warning me, "You aren't trying to keep anything are you?" Naturally, that woman knows me too well.
I took a lot of pictures. I walked around the neighborhood and snapped shots of windows, doorways, lawn decorations, and then headed back to the crowded party. I took pictures of puppies, kids too busy playing with said puppies to be camera-shy, and strangers. I have so much catching up to do on here. With all this time I have on my hands, I've been wearing the battery of my camera out!
